Kamakurais a very famous region for having so many historical temples.Tsuruoka Hachiman-gu, one of the three majorHachiman-gushrines of Japan was the centre of politics and religions inKamakura-era and still is the landmark of the area.

So known as "Bamboo temple"Houkoku-jitemple andHase-deratemple with the famous the Great Buddha are two other. But because the bamboo temple is very small, sometimes it's full of tourists and overwhelming.Enkaku-jitemple andTokei-jitemple in the neighbouring stationKita-kamakuradistrict are also what I would recommend. Perhaps unexpected is that there are many people spending time in the region going around museums. There are many museums in the area, "Kamakura Bungakukan"(Kamakura museum of literature) or "Kaburaki Kiyotaka Memorial Art Museum" to name just a few.

If you go to the seaside, you might be able to see Mt. Fuji across the ocean. You'll get to enjoy good seafood around there too. Enoshima lighthouse holds various seasonal events and during winter, a beautiful illumination entertains all visited.

A famous speciality food of Kamakura is fresh whitebait. But there is a certain close season where fishing whitebait is prohibited, so if you go then, you won't be able to try it. Other popular food of the region isKamakuralocal vegetables andsoba.
Hope you will get to enjoy some of them!
