「喉に詰まる」を英語では？

みなさんこんにちは。

「喉に詰まる」を英語ではどう言えば良いですか？


例えば、「昨日おもちを食べた時、喉に詰まった。もう少しで死ぬところだった。」と言いたい場合、

When I was eating some rise cake yesterday, I choked on it and almost died.

で良いですか？


また、「何ヵ月か前に、ブッシュ大統領はプリュッツェルを食べ、それを喉に詰まらせて死にそうになった。」

と言いたい場合ばどうなりますか？


上に書いた例文とは、少し英語での言い回し方が違って来るような気がします。（良くは解りませんが、、、）
自分の事でない事を言おうとするからでしょうか、、？

餅を食べて・・・の英訳は正しいと思います。

ブッシュ大統領の文は次のような訳でどうでしょうか。choked on itも
使えるでしょう。
Some months ago, President Bush ate a pretzel, got it lodged
in his throat, and almost died.

Several months ago, when President Bush ate a pretzel, it caught
in his throat and almost killed him.

A few months ago, President Bush ate a pretzel, choked on it,
and almost died.

「a pretzel caught in his throat.」なんかは私の弱い文法力、単語力でも十分に作れる文だったし、簡単に覚えられそうです。

これでも十分通じますが、少し気になる点があります。
餅は、rice cakeですよ。rice cakeは可算名詞と不可算名詞があり、可算扱いにするとsome rice cakesになり、不可算扱いにするとrice cakeになります。そのどちらかです。

ブッシュ大統領の件ですが、僕ならこう訳します。
A few months ago,President Bush almost died from choking on a pretzel.

だから、餅の件も「餅がのどに詰まる」というのだから、「餅を食べてて」とわざわざ言わなくてもいいと思いますよ。もしこれが「魚を食べてて骨が・・・」とか「おやつを食べてて餅が・・・」というなら別ですけどね。
