There is not/ There is noの違い

次の(1)(2)の違いはネイティブはどう感じるでしょうか？
(1) There is not a cinema in the town.
(2) There is no cinema in the town.

また以下のように複数にしてもいいのでしょうか？
(3) There are not cinemas in the town.
(4) There are no cinemas in the town.

✖　(3) There are not cinemas in the town.

　　　　"not any cinemas"と変える必要あり
◎　(4) There are no cinemas in the town.

一概には言えないようですが、次のような解釈が当てはまるケースもあります:

> (1) There is not a cinema in the town.
> (2) There is no cinema in the town.

上記の文例の場合、(1) は「映画館が一軒も無いとは何たるこっちゃい」と感情が込められているのに対して、(2) は単なる事実を述べただけで感情的な意味合いはない。

解説例:
There is no month in calendar that does not have a festival.
There is not a month in calendar when there is not a festival.

The first sentence is more like an information about the year and its festivals. But the second one is almost an outflow of frustration, like "Ow heck, I only see festivals in this freaking calendar! What's the problem with these people?"
