床に身を伏せる（英訳願えますか？）

He ( ) himself flat on the floor.

答えは、laidとなっておりますが、次の表現は如何でしょうか？更に、これは第５文型でいいのでしょうか？

あと、次の文との違いは何でしょうか？（正しい文章かは分かりませんが）

He prostrated himself flat on the floor.
(flatが必要かは不明）

He laid himself down on the floor.
(downとflatで何が違うかが不明）

He dropped to the floor.
ジーニアスにdropは（意識的に）「身を伏せる」とあります。しかし、この文章は「身を伏せる」というよりは、「床に崩れ落ちる」のような意味のほうが良い気がします。

後何か、「身を伏せる」の良い表現があれば、お教え願いたいです。

以外は、大丈夫です。prostrateは、他動詞です。

ありがとうございました。上記以外は全てオーケーなんですね。「身を伏せる」laid oneself on the floor以外にずいぶんありますね。勉強になりました。（でも解答が１つしかないのはどうなんですかね？）

flatは、「面と面がぴったり合わさった状態」を言いますから、「伏せた」というよりは、「這いつくばった」の方が近いでしょう。

prostrateは、「畏怖や崇拝の念から伏す」という意味です。そういう状況で使う場合がほとんどのようです。
dropは、「どかっと、身を投げた(腰を下ろした) といった表現で、
…drop oneself on/onto the couch/ chairのような使い方をする場合が多いようです。しかし、…drop himself on the ground to dodge… のような表現も可能です。

そのほかに、 銀行強盗や警察官のせりふ、get down on the floor
医者にかかるとlay on your stomach on the bed..
などなど
get down on your stomach.
lie down on the ground
stretch out on the floor
dive to the ground
lie flat on the ground
throw oneself to the ground
