Rijndael2

いつもお世話になっています。
ここで、教えていただいて、
The Design of Rijndael
を参考にして、
　暗号ソフトは動くようになりました。
そこで、
著作権とか、特許権とかの関係ですが、
この暗号方式は
特許とか、著作権とか気にしないで
制作や利用が出来るのでしょうか？
　利用に関して特別な許可が
必要なのでしょうか？

いくつか分かる部分だけ。

Rijndaelアルゴリズム自体は米国で特許が申請されています。

NIST（米国標準技術局）の文書

"10. Patents. Implementations of the algorithm specified in this standard may be covered by U.S. and foreign patents."

とあるので、米国の公式見解では「AESは特許でカバーされているかもしれない」ということになるのでしょう。

とあるので、AESがロイヤリティフリーであることは間違いなさそうです。

あとは、いくつかのサイトで「AESはPatent-free, royalty-freeである」という記述が見られますが、情報源は追い切れませんでした。

を読んだら、文章の中に
royalty-free
とありました。
これが、特許権を指すのか
著作権を指すのかは分かりませんので
著者に聞いてみます。
