ウィルスバスター2007のインストールエラー

先日知人のパソコンにウィルスバスター2007をインストールしようとしたら、

この現象でエラーになります。
手順に従い、レジストリー設定ツールをかけ、修正版をDLしてインストールすると、途中でエラーになりますが、今度は中断されず最後まで行き、再起動後アップデートをすると正常にインストールが完了します。

原因は何でしょうか？
メーカーのサポートページでも「一部の環境において」と書いてあるだけで、原因がはっきりしないのですけど、何かのソフトとあたるのか、パソコンメーカーのデフォルトの設定とあたるのか、どうも不気味です。
結果的には問題ないので、私はそれでよいのですけど、他人のパソコンですから説明を求められ、ちょっと困っています。

あくまで参考情報:

You may receive the "Error 1068" error message when you try to start the Remote Access Connection Manager service or the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager service in Windows XP

からも判るとおり、Remote Access Connection ManagerサービスはTelephonyに依存します。

また、たとえばウイルスバスター2005は以下のサービスを使用するようです。

Transfer Device Interfaceは・・・・情報が微妙。まぁサービスの起動およびその権限というのが妥当なところかな。

参考資料を読ませていただき、おぼろげながら今回の不具合が理解できました。
私の知人で、会社のパソコン数十台にインストールした者がいますけど、レジストリーがおかしくなって、警告を出さずに勝手に通信を遮断する状況があって、2007は使い難いと感じてるようですけど、インストールエラーは経験したこともないと言われ、彼と二人でネットを検索して意外と報告が多いので驚きました。
今回は知り合いのお宅のパソコン3台でしたけど、最初の1台がエラーでしたから、買ったときに入ってるノートンの体験版はしっかり削除したし、何か手順を間違えたのかと、かなり慌てました。
持ち主は大丈夫かいな・・・という目で見てますし、他人のパソコンを弄るときは気を使います。

おっ、Kindon98さん、こんにちは。

(珍しいと思っているので何故か少しうれしくなっている)

・・・とは言いつつも原因をはっきり示せるわけではありません。

この手の奴は英語でかけてみようということで
「MBD Profile PC Cillin」でGoogleで検索すると以下のサイトがヒットし、手動での修復方法が書かれています(言うまでもなく、PC Cillinはウイルスバスターの海外名です)

#TMASOEDLとTMASOLDLが何なのかは良くわからんが。

こちらの方が日本語ページに書いてあることよりも詳しい手順が判ります。
ファイヤーウォールもここに書いてあるようにインストールエラーが出ますが、日本のページですと、修正ファイルがすんなり入るような書き方で、心配になりますけど、ご紹介いただいたページと合わせて見ますとはっきりしますね。
