Iが抜けてるのと、”a postman”は一度でいいのでは。

postman 着けるなら、the postman　ですかね。

こういう時の「言う」はtell のほうが相応しいですね。

「言えた」は、能力の問題でないので、be able toは少しおかしいです。「頑張って何とかした」のmanageがいいですね。

I managed to tell the postman what I wanted to. 最後のtoはないと「言うべきこと」にならないで、「欲しいもの」になってしまいます。

I was able to tell the postman what should be said to him.

SayよりTellの方が、「伝える」のニュアンスがあります。
What should say him.　ではなく、意味的には「言うべきこと＝言われるべきこと」 なので受け身にしないとダメです。
それと、このPostmanは、ある特定の人を指すので（つまり、うちに配達に来た人とか）the のほうがいいです。
