College is (a place) where you are given the opportunity to expand your horizons.

「大学は、自分の視野を広げる機会を与えてくれるところです」

関係副詞「where」の先行詞の省略は、the placeと習ったのですが、a placeと不定冠詞の場合もできるのですかね？

whenに対して「a time」も省略可能ですかね？

もしかしたら「the places」や「times」も

This is the street where the parade took place. のように where が特定の場所を示すとき（多くはそう）は the が付きます。

ですが、College is a place where you are given the opportunity to expand your horizons. のように一般論的に言うときは a でいいわけ。
