関係代名詞

関係代名詞what を用いて、次の文の（）を英語にしてください。

関係代名詞whatのポイントは「役割を２つ与える」です。

whatは「先行詞を含む関係代名詞」と言われますが、
要するにthe thing whichに書き換えて文法的に説明できます。

(1)=The thing which is important is never to give up.

The thing がis (never) の主語になっている
which がis (important) の主語になっている

(2)=Listen carefully to the thing which he is saying.

the thingが前置詞toの目的語になっている
whichがsayingの目的語になっている

(3)=This library is the thing which our town has needed for many years.
the thingがisの補語になっている
whichがhas neededの目的語になっている


これが私のお示ししたいことです。
This is what I want to show you.
= This is the thing which I want to show you

the thingがisの補語になっている
whichがshowの目的語になっている

関係代名詞what の文は
what ＋ 主語＋動詞＋etc...で、
１のように、what が主語も兼ねることもあります。
