ザンビアでは同性愛は禁止されているので、「同性愛行為をやっちゃダメだぜ」の意味にもなります:

年配の人より若い人の言い方だと思いますが、こんな言い方をする時はだいたい　gay = not cool, lame (ダサい、つまらない）の意味です。

Don't be gay で「ダサいこと言わない、つまらないこと言わないで」のような感じです。
