What do you think of～　のHowとの区別は文法的に説明できますか？


名詞（句・節）で答えるものはwhat、
形容詞・副詞で答えるものはhow、と考えていましたが無理でしょうか？
覚えるしかありませんか？

以下は全て正しい文です。（ロイヤル英文法　改訂新版 p249から）
○What do you think of the movie?
→I think it was too slow. （名詞節で答えているのでwhat)　OK

○How did you feel about the movie.
→It was wonderful.（形容詞で答えているのでhow)　　OK

○How do you like your coffee?
→Just cream, please. （creamで答えているのならwhatでは？？？）　説明できない

○How do you spell カラオケ in English?
→It spells k.a.r.a.o.k.e. （名詞で答えているのだからwhatでは？）　説明できない


※疑問副詞のhowは副詞を形容詞的に用いていると考えています。
The game is over.のoverのように。

疑問詞でも形容詞なら名詞につきます。

例：
What color do you like?

「いつ when」「どこで where」「どう how」「なぜ why」
これはみな副詞です。

確かにたいていの場合、聞かれたように答えるものですけど（そうはいかない場合もありますし）、答えから問いの疑問詞を導き出すというのは、やはり、ちょっと、順番が逆ですよね。

一番いいのは、疑問詞は、問う際の疑問文の中での《働き》で決まると思っておくことですけど、でも、これもまた、英語は理屈ではいかないことがあります。

この理屈でない一例が、あなたの持ち出したその最初の文です。
動詞 think は [x] I think you とか [x] I think my problem とかと目的語を取れません。[o] I think of you とか [o] I'm thinking about my problem
などと前置詞が必要です。ところが、意見を問うときには how ではなくて what だと言うんですね。

辞書も what の語義は「何」だけでなく「どんなもの」を入れて辻褄合わせをしていますけど、

確かにこう言うんですけど、この what は think の目的語以外の何物でもないです。How do you think about ~ なんてのはすっかりマイナーなんですね。それでも言う人は言うんです（参照：https://youglish.com/pronounce/%22How%20do%20you …）。

文法について発言したいような人たちは口をそろえて、What do you think? だと言いますけど、でも、そういうネイティブでも、実は、無意識に本当は how だと感じている証拠に、

これは "is the proper question to ask when you want to know how your friend or your company thinks of what you just said."
だと、how を使って説明しています。ご本人気づいていないようです。

"I think so" と言いますし、think の後につく内容を言う that節は「～と考える・思う」と、副詞節なんですね。

本来、think に what を使うなら前置詞が必要なはずなんです。

　What does she look like?
これなら like という前置詞の目的語なので what を使う理由が分かります。
この what の代わりに how は使えません。
でも、この質問が何を聞いているのかと言うと（ハロウィンのコスチュームのことにも使えますけど）ふつう、普段の人相や容貌なんですね。

You can use this question to get a description of her (e.g. she is tall, she has brown hair...) Although, (as you said) you could use also this if she is dressed up as something (like for a Halloween party).
"How does she look like?" is not used.
"How does she look?" is used, but the meaning is different. It's asking for your opinion (Does she look good? etc.)
“How is she dressed?" or "What is she wearing?

cream には動詞があります。

k.a.r.a.o.k.e.は名詞と言うより並べる順序も含めていますので副詞に近いと思われます。
