アメリカの学校かなんかの建物の話の時「エイチバックシステム」と聞こえた言葉がありました。なんのことか分かる人教えてください。

HVAC system

Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning system の略でいわゆる「空調システム」のことです。

それは HVAC のことで、これは Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning

のことです。
車や建物なんかの空調、いわゆるエアコンの機械を HVAC と呼んでます。
アメリカの場合、多くは室外機と屋内の屋根裏なんかに置く室内機とに分かれていますが、どちらも HVAC です。
室外機（外に置くもの）を Outdoor Unit、室内機（屋根裏なんかに置くもの）を Indoor Unit なんて呼びます。
それらが一体になってて窓なんかにつけるのは Window Unit とか、Integrated Unit などと呼びます。
