所有格の和訳について

①Mark Twain told the young man to bring his uncle to his lecture that evening.
このhis uncle ですが、この一文では、Mark Twain's uncle なのかthe young man's uncle なのか特定できないですよね？
特定できるのなら、どこを見れば　特定できるのか教えてください。

文脈から判断するしかありません。

この場合は特に主語がマークトウェインであり、２番目の his に続く言葉が lecture となっていることです。

まず his uncle について、マークトウェインがその若者にマークトウェインの叔父を連れてくるように言うのが、特別な理由でも示されていなければこれだけの文章だけでは不自然です。もちろん次の his lecture ついては、マークトウェインという有名な人物の話をしているわけですからマークトウェインのレクチャーと解釈するのが自然です。

ですから『マークトウェインは、その若者に[その若者の]叔父を夕方のマークトウェインの講義に連れてくるように言った』ように解釈するのが自然です。

ありがとうございます。おおいに納得です。でも、Mark Twain's uncleでも　またこの一文だけだと、十分に可能と思えてなりません。不自然という点については、あまりそう思わないのですが、これって、おかしいのかなぁ？？？と考え中です。

念の為この英文が出処が見つかるかと思って検索したところヒットしました。全文は次の通りです。　この文を読めばすぐ分かりますが、この若者は自分には全然笑わない叔父がいるとマークトウェインに告げると自分の（マークトウェインの）講演につれてきなさいと言った、と書いてあります。

As a famous writer, Mark Twain was also famous in his day as a lecturer and teller of funny stories. He often went from town to town giving lectures that included many funny stories.

One day, he was walking down the street of a small town where he was going to give a lecture that evening. A young man came up to him and said, ��Mr. Twain, I'd like to talk to you for a minute, please. I have an uncle that I love very much. The problem is he never laughs or smiles. Is there anything you can suggest?��

��Don't worry. Bring your uncle to my lecture this evening, young man. I promise that he'll laugh and smile.��

That evening the young man and his uncle sat in the first row, allowing Mark Twain to speak directly to them. He told some rather funny stories, but the old man never even smiled. Then he told the funniest stories he knew, but the old man's face still remained blank. Mark Twain finished the lecture almost exhausted.

Later Mark Twain was telling a friend about the experience.

��Oh!�� said the friend. ��You could have saved yourself the trouble. I know that old man. He has been deaf for years.��

丁寧かつ、わかりやすいです。ありがとうございます。　(〃艸〃)((´∀｀))　面白い下りですね。この文脈があれば疑いようがありませんね。

ただ、これは、ある問題集からの出題問題であり、提示させていただいた一文だけが　問４）などのように出し和訳せよ。となっています。
これだけでどっちともとれる文を出題する側の不親切さで　解答はあたかも若者の叔父しかとらせない　決めつけ解答。　こういう無神経な問題にやっぱり、ちょくちょくありますが、腹が立ちます。
ここでぐちってもしょうがないのですが、直接話法にしとくとか、the young ladyにしとくとか、、、当方が将来は問題集の問題を作れる人になるというのも　夢に加えておこうと思います。
