他の回答者さんたちの言う通り、この文章においてはその二つは同じ意味で使っています。

ただ、日本語と違って、英語では同じ言葉を何度も使うのは芸がないと思われているので、できる限り同じ言葉を繰り返さないようにしているだけです。
