パソコンが起動しません。

妹のパソコンでデスクトップのカスタマイズ（ウィンドウのタイトルバーの色変えなど）をして再起動したらブルー画面になり、こういうメッセージが出ました。

「A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen,restart your computer.If this screen appears again,follow these steps.

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space.If a driver is identified in the stop message,disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.Try changing video adapters.Check with your hardware vender for any BIOS updates.Disable BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing.If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components,restart your computer,press F8 to select advanced startup options,and then select safe mode.」

とりあえずセーフモードで起動は出来たんですがデスクトップのカスタマイズを元に戻す事は出来ませんでした。
あとシステムの復元もしてみたのですが復元ポイントが見つかりませんという表示が出て出来ませんでした。
他に思い当たる原因が見つかりません。
出来れば再インストールなどはしたくないのですがどなたかご教授いただけないでしょうか？

使用パソコンは日立プリウス200B5TMです。
OSはXPでこないだメモリを512MB増設して768MBにしてあります。
増設してからは不具合も無く動いてました。
