アメリカからきたホームステイの生徒に、伊勢神宮の「おかげ犬」のぬいぐるみを送ります。
次の文章を英訳していただけると助かります。よろしくお願いいたします。


『１７００年代、290mile離れた東京からお参りに行くのが流行しました。
しかし、病気など諸事情で行かれない人が、自分のかわりに飼っている犬を行く人に預けたり、道中誰かが連れて行ってくれるのを期待して犬だけで送り出したりしました。
犬には伊勢神宮へ行く目印に、縄でできた首輪をつけていたので、道中では人々がエサをあげたり家に泊めてあげたりしました。
はるばる伊勢神宮までたどりついた犬は、神社からお札をうけとり、また遠い距離を飼い主のもとへ戻っていきました。
たくさんの人の助けをもらいお参りをしてくる犬を「おかげ犬」と呼びました。
ぬいぐるみの生地は、昨年あなたが日本に来たときに体験した藍染でできています。
このぬいぐるみが海を渡ってはるばるあなたに会いにいくように、健太もまたあなたに会えますように。』

There is a story about okage-inu , which is a name for dogs famous in Ise Jingu.

In 1700's , there was a trend that people go to visit Ise Jingu (Ise grand shrine) from Tokyo on foot .the distance between them was 290 mile .
People who wanted to go but couldn't because of their illness or something had their dogs go instead of theirselves and each of the dogs wore a dog collar made of rope as a sign of going to there.
They asked people who was departing to go with their dogs, or they send the dogs off without anyone with a wish that someone kind take them to the shrine.
During the journey, collars of the dogs realized people that the dogs were on the way to Ise Jingu .
And these people fed them or put them up for a night to help them .
At last the dogs could arrived at the shrine and achieved their purpose of getting "ofuda "which is like lucky charms or amulets , then backed to Tokyo where their owners lived .
They shouldn't have accomplished the mission without help from kind people.
Such dogs called "okage-inu" .
