能動態にしてみましょう。

They estimate the planet to be 50 ...

think/consider/believe O (to be) C などと説明されます。

think などであれば、SVOC で書けるし、
to be をはさむことができます。

しかし、estimate には普通に SVOC の用法がなく、
estimate O to be C で
「O が C だと推察する」
とします。

ask/tell/want/expect O to do などの一種ではありますが、
特に be で使われる
think O to be C というパターンを知っておくことです。

この to be について不定詞の用法などで説明することはできず、
こういうパターンで覚えておくしかありません。

断定的に記述するなら、

これに「推測される」を挿入すると。
The planet (is estimated) (to be) 50 times the weight of the sun.
