「輪廻」は英語でどのように訳されるのでしょうか？

辞書では「transmigration of souls」と書かれていたのですが、
スラングな表現も含め、他にもしっくりくる表現はありますでしょうか？

私が読んだ本には、 thousand remaining lifetime とあって、輪廻転生のことだと理解しました。

また、his chain of rebirth was broken は、彼の輪廻の鎖がちぎれて解脱が得られた、という意味だと思いました。

仏教は英語圏に存在しない概念なので、英語で説明するしか方法がありません
