韓国北東部の江原道太白市で、恒例の太白山雪花祭りが始まった。ソウル市内からは車で４時間。雪化粧した太白山のふもとの会場は大勢の人が詰めかけている。祭りのメーンは２０チームが参加しての雪の彫刻大会日本など海外からも３チームが参加して５メートルほどの雪像が立ち並ぶ。今年はｗ杯の年とあってボールやカップをかたどったものもあった。韓国の伝統のそりやコマの体験、氷のジョッキで生ビールを飲めるコーナもある。

韓国語の英語表記の人名・地名は日本語のヘボン式では読めないのでちょっとくせもの（？！）ですよね。

At (江原道太白) city four hours' drive from Seoul, in northeastern part of South Korea, an annual event called (太白山雪花祭り) has began, been crowded under the Mt. (太白) covered with snow.

The main part of the event is a snow sculpture rally with twenty teams entering from over seas such as Japan, making five meter tall snow stature. Because this is the world cup year, some statures are cup and ball shaped.

In the festival, you can also enjoy things like beer with icy schooner, experience of Korean traditional sled and top.
