xreaでのWordpressインストール、ユーザー名？

XreaでMysqlのデータベースをutf-8で作成し、phpMyadminで接続できることを確認しました。
その後、
Xreaでwordpressの2.05（投稿時最新）をインストールしようとしましたが、wordpressフォルダのアップロード後、wordpress/index.phpにアクセスし、wp-config.phpの自動作成画面で、
データベース名：xrea(仮）
ユーザー名：[e-mail]
パスワード：**********
ホスト名：localhost
エンコード：UTF-8
テーブル接頭語：xx_
・・・と設定しましたが、
インストールできません。

ユーザー名はxreaと[e-mail]の両方試しましたが駄目でした。

エラーメッセージは以下のとおりです。
Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

wp-config.phpをエディタで編集後、utf-8で保存してFTPでアップロードし、index.phpにアクセスしてみましたが、結果は同じでした。
また、wp-config.phpをShift-jisで保存しても同じでした。


詳しい方、間違い等、お気づきの点ご指摘いただけませんでしょうか。

ユーザー名は、@マーク以降なしでよかったかと思います。

何も設定していなければ、だいたいデータベース名と同じになるはずです。

その後解決していたのですがここにログインしていなくて、気づきませんでした。おそらくご指摘の点だったと思うのですが・・・思い出せません・・・
自分自身、よく忘れますし、他の方がはまった時の参考になると思います。
