openとdiscloseの違いってなんですか？

よく、「情報公開」などの意味でディスクロージャーって聞きますが、
discloseって
closeをdisってるわけですよね？

closeしちゃダメ＝open
↓
openとcloseだけじゃいけないんでしょうか？

情報公開＝情報をオープンにする
と言わずにわざわざdiscloseと言う理由はなんでしょうか？

また、これらの使い分けかたってあるのでしょうか？
例えば、「この場合はdiscloseしか使わないよ」みたいな。

disclose は「（原義）隠れていたものを見えるようにする」→「暴露する・公開する」ですから、それにふさわしくない場合、たとえば open the door には使えないわけです。

とはいえ、open もドアやふたなどを開ける以外にも「暴露する」という意味がありますから

open (up) the fallacy「誤りを明らかにする」
open (up) one's mind「心の内を明かす」

これらは disclose と交換可能なわけです。＃１の例文も多くは open と交換できるでしょう（あくまで意味が分かるということです）。

ではなぜ disclose/disclosure が好まれるケースがあるかです。日本語でも和語と漢語では、同じ意味だからとってどちらを使ってもいいわけではなく、漢語の方が好まれる場合があります。「情報公開・情報を公開する」と言いいますが「情報さらし・情報をさらす」とは言いません。「情報を明らかにする」とは言いますが、これを名詞形にすると「情報明け」とは言わず「情報公開」とか言いようがありません。内容がお固いのに和語ばかりではアンバランスです。

disclose/disclosure は英語的には「固い・難しい語」なので日本語で漢語が好まれるような場面で好まれます。open でも意味は分かりますが、子供でなかったら作文ではふさわしくないと訂正されるでしょう。

「手に入れる」の一般的な語は get ですが、何でもかんでも get で済ませればいいわけではなく、「獲得する」とか「努力して入手した」とか、少々お固い雰囲気のときは acquire にします。

こういう例は他にもあり、語義以外に文脈や文体からふさわしい方の語を選ぶのです。

　＃１さんのように詳しくはありませんが、私なりに

１。open の方が disclose より古いです。open はアングロサクソンの昔からある、生粋の英語。disclose はフランス語から入った輸入品です。日本語なら大和言葉と漢語の違いです。open は平易な印象を与えますが、disclose には法律や政治家の匂いがするのはそのためです。

２。これは品詞の広がりで分かります。 open は、名詞、形容詞、自動詞、他動詞と使えますが、disclose　は他動詞だけです。

３。ですから意味が重なるのは他動詞の時だけです。

４。限定されているものから先に言う方が楽で、disclose は（あまり人目に触れないものを）開く、という意味があります。ですから「秘密情報公開」とか「癌の告知」などに open は使いません。

５。ご質問にもありましたが閉じた状態が普通な物を「開く」のが disclose で、一旦disclose すると open　の状態になります。

「open」の動詞には「~~~を公開する」と言う意味しか有りません、その公開が「制約・制限・監視」などある種の圧力下であるかどうかは殆ど関係有りませんが、「disclose」の場合はその強弱はさておきある種の「制約・制限・監視」などでその公開が恣意的である場合に使用されると考えては如何でしょうか?　下記に実際に「disclose」が使われている実用例を掲げておきますので参考にして下さい。
