"typically"は副詞なので、形容詞"typical"の定義を調べる方がよろしいでしょう。

なお、辞書には解説が分かりやすいものから分かりにくいものまで色々なものがありますので、この辞書の解説はどうも分かりにくいと思ったら別の辞書で調べてみる必要があります。

合ってますよ。
「物事や人について期待される特徴を示すやり方で」という定義です。

ちなみに、学習者用オックスフォード英々（https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/us/de …）の定義を見てみると、
(typically is) used to say that something usually happens in the way that you are stating
と言っています。これをかみくだくと、
used to say （言うのに使われる）
that something usually happens （何かが通常起きるということを）
in the way （やり方で）that you are stating（あなたが言っているような）

→「(typically は、)あなたが言っているようなやり方で何かが通常起きるということを言うのに使われる」
