muchは肯定文では使えないのでしょうか

muchの使い方で質問があります。「現代の生活では、だれでもストレスがたまりやすい」の英作文の解答例の１つが、In modern life, everyone has a lot of stress.となっています。さらに、解説で「muchは原則的に肯定文では使えない」ので、everyone has much stress.は不可、ただし、so much, as much, too much, very muchなどは例外、また堅い文では使える、とありました。「muchは原則的に肯定文では使えない」など、muchの使い方について教えてください。

a lot (of) は肯定文で好まれ、many/much は疑問文・否定文で好まれる、

というのはあります。

しかし、この英語で

＞muchは原則的に肯定文では使えない

というのは言い過ぎです。

much で何の問題もありません。

金田一某氏の本を読んで、日本語ができるようなならないのと同じです。

インフォーマルな（くだけた）文章では、many や much は疑問文や否定文で使い、肯定文では使わない。
例外は so, as, too の後に来るときで、それ以外では他の言い方に変える。
In an informal style, we use _much_ and _many_ mostly in questions and negative clauses.
In most affirmative clauses they are unusual (especially _much_); other words and expressions are used instead.

How much money have you got? I've got plenty. (×I've got much)
He's got lots of men friends, but he doesn't know many women.
（He's got many men friends よりも自然）
There was so much traffic that it took me an hour to get home. And there was a lot of bad driving on the road.
（there was many bad driving on the road よりも自然）
You make too many mistakes—lots of spelling mistakes, for example.
（many spelling mistakes, for example よりも自然）



very much は副詞ならよい。名詞の前では不可。
I liked it very much.
Thank you very much.
×There's very much water coming under the table.



フォーマルな（かたい）文章なら、肯定文で may や much を使ってもそれほど不自然ではない。
In a formal style, _much_ and _many_ are not so unnnatural in affirmative clauses.
