最後に蛇足ですが、rather thanの用法で、than以降に前置詞を置くことはできるのでしょうか？下記のようにですI　want to pursue my carrer as a system　engineer in the U.S. rather than in Japan.
これがもし自然であれば、rather tha i do in the U.S..のI doが省略されていると考えるべきなのでしょうか？

SVOCの構文のCのところだから
形容詞用法でしょう。

thatは、meaningの意味ですが、何度も同じ単語を繰り返すのを避けて、thatで言い換えています。
