I have to study much harder than Ken.
のmuchの部分で、なぜmoreではないのですか？あと、不規則変化のmuch moreの使い方がよくわからないので教えてください。

この文は hard（一生懸命）が表現したいことです。

それを『 Ken 以上に』と言いたいので比較級にして『 er 』を付けました。
more はおなじ副詞でも er をつけることがない言葉の時にその前に置きます。
hard には、もう er をつけているので more は使いません。

ken より一生懸命、ですが、『ずっと一生懸命』と『ずっと』をつけて強調したいので、そのために much をつけています。
much は harder を強調する言葉です。

比較級・最上級を修飾して強調する強意副詞で、特に much と very に注目しました。

また、これらの副詞の他の使われ方にも触れましたが、過去分詞の修飾については少し複雑です。
比較級の程度を強める修飾は much ，最上級は by far と言うほど単純ではないようです。
比較級・最上級は中学英語でも習いますし、その強意副詞は英文法の本や問題集でも見かけます。

Moreは、形容詞または副詞自体を変化できないときに使うのです。

例えば、Hard は、Harderという比較級（より努力して）がありますから、more hard にはなりません。けれど、beautiful は beautifuler にはできないので、more beautiful になります。

例文の hardは副詞ですから、別の副詞の例をあげてみましょう。
「あなたは質問をもっと注意して読まなければなりません」
You have to read the questions more carefully.
Carefully （注意深く）という副詞は、Hardのように erをつけることができないので、more carefully と言います。

①more hard ≒ harder という意味ですから、more harder ではダブルようになります。

②more (副詞）harder (形容詞）
副詞の more にはそのような用法はありません。
