僕はこの専門分野について何も知りませんが、トンチンカンなことを言ってしまう危険性があることも承知の上で、次のように解釈することもできるんじゃないかと思うのですが、専門家である質問者さんから見て、やはり変でしょうか？

つまり、in cases of の前にだけコンマがついていて、at implant sites の前にコンマがついていない点がもしも著者たちのしっかりした根拠の元で行われたとしたら、

(1) in cases of socket and alveolar ridge preservation
and
(2) at implant sites.

上の (1), (2) は並列させているのではないかと思ったのです。つまり (1) の in cases of と (2) の at とは、かなり良く似た意味合いで使っているのかもしれません。つまり「socket and alveolor ridge preservation の場合と、implant sites の場合とにおいて」みたいな意味合いです。

さらに、resorbable collagen membranes と sites of periodontal and intrabony defects とが同格になっているのではないでしょうか？
