この英文について教えてください

We are ,to a remarkable degree,the right distance from the right sort of star,one that is big
enough to radiate lots of energy,but not so big as to burn itself out swiftly.

訳：わたしたちは、驚くべき程度まで、適切な種類の星から適切な距離にあり、その星は多くのエネルギーを放射できるほど大きいが、。急速に燃え尽きてしまうほど大きくはない



ここで質問ですが
(1)one that is big　～のthatの役割は何でしょうか？
that=the right sort of starで
one thatは「ある適切な種類の星」ということですか

(2)
but not so big as to burn itself out swiftly.となっていますが何故（主語とbe動詞）が省略されているのでしょうか？副詞節中でないと（主語とbe動詞）は省略できなかったはずだと思うのですが

この文のコンマは同格を表しており、A，B＝「AすなわちB」となり、thatは関係代名詞でoneを先行していて、またoneはcarをあらわしており、
私は大きな車が好きです、車はすなわち彼の車より少なくとも大きな車です


その通りです。大きな車が好きという情報の後で、同格のoneを置いてthat以下でどれぐらい大きな車が好きかを具体的に説明しています。

成り立ちません。one.で文章が終わってしまうと中途半端で意味が通じません。

starとoneは同じものです。コンマで区切って同格を表しています。that以下は、oneの補足説明です。　こういうふうに、名詞をコンマで区切ってoneで置き換えて説明する例はたくさんあります。

・　I like a big car, one that is at least bigger than his car.
・ He is the boy, one who wears a white shirt.
・　The dog is eating the dog food, one that I bought at a pet shop yesterday.

一度、文法書で同格について調べてみるといいと思います。文法のことは良くわかりませんが、制限用法とか非制限用法の同格のthatとかコンマの同格の例文が載っていると思います。

(1) that は one が先行詞になる関係代名詞です。

(one = star = the sun)　しかしこの one は不要です。star, that と続ける方が文法的には伝わりやすいでしょう。

(2)ご指摘のとおり、省略部分が明らかです。明らかな時は省略します。自然な文です。

oneがなかったらthatが非制限用法としてはたらいていると分かるのですが、oneがあっても英文としてなぜなりたっているのでしょうか？

oneは、the right sort of starのことです。
thatは、関係代名詞でone (the right sort of star)の説明をしています。

the right sort of star that is bigとせずに、the right sort of starとthat is bigの間にoneを入れることで、”例えば、that以下のようなもの”というようにその星に説明を加えています。

but not so big as to burn itself out swiftly.となっていますが何故（主語とbe動詞）が省略されているのでしょうか？副詞節中でないと（主語とbe動詞）は省略できなかったはずだと思うのですが

,one that is big (enough to radiate lots of energy),but not so big as to burn itself out swiftly.

カッコの部分を除いて書くと、次のようになり理解しやすいと思います。

,one that is big, but not so big as to burn itself out swiftly.

つまり、but....out swiftlyの文章は、前にでてきた関係代名詞thatに続いているだけです。

下記のように主語とbe動詞を省略しないで書くと、主語と動詞が2回も出てきて逆にぎこちない英文になってしまいます。

,one that is big, but one that is not so big as to burn itself out swiftly.

つまりthat以下はoneを先行しているとすると
We are ,to a remarkable degree,the right distance from the right sort of star,one ．でも成り立つということですよね？
We are ,to a remarkable degree,the right distance from the right sort of star,名詞（one）.
となるから何だかこの文成り立つのかという疑問がわくのですが
