「ある男」とする場合が多いです。

発話者は名前も顔もわかっているが、敢えて名前を出す必要がないと判断している場合です。
そして、「大した男」という意味で、本気で褒めてる場合と逆に貶して皮肉で言う場合にも使います。
文脈と声調でわかります。

この"some"の用法については英語ネイティブでも人によって言う事はマチマチですが、次のように「なんだか冴えない男」というような意味で使うという解説もあります:

"She was with some guy" makes "guy" seem unimportant, not interesting. Like I said usually "some" makes the following noun lose its importance, sort of degrades it.
