wriggle free 『身をよじって自由になる』

上から５行目 wriggle free の部分について教えて下さい。

文脈から、『身をよじって（その結果）自由になる』ととりました。
free　は　副詞ではなく、形容詞。
第2文型的なのかな、と思ったんですが。

副詞の free の場合「無料で」とか「ただで」の意味のみ、もしくは船の帆を緩めてみたいな意味しか原則的にはないようですよ。

なので "wriggle free" は「無料に身をよじる」と言う解釈は変なので形容詞としての扱いで「身をよじって自由になる」のほうが自然だと思います。

wriggle に副詞としてつくのであれば freely と ly がつく必要があると思います。
