あなたが聞きたいのは不定詞の中でも「～のようになる」「～だと分かる、判明する」と言う用法ですね。

この用法では、prove(to be)補語、turn out(to be)補語で、どちらもto beを省略することが出来るので、成り立ちます。ただし、to beがなくてもいいのは後ろが名詞か形容詞の場合です。動詞が来る時はto+動詞となります。
e.g.
She proved (to be) a pianist.
彼女はピアニストだと判明した。
The rumor proved(or turned out) (to be) true.
そのうわさは本当であると分かった。
Finally, they will prove to know nothing about the accident.
最終的に彼らはその事故について何も知らないことが分かるであろう。

また、下に書かれたseem, appear(～のように思われる)ではtoが必要です。他にhappen to, chance to(たまたま～する、偶然～する)などもあり、上に挙げた例もこちらも、
It~that…で書き換えることが出来ます。
e.g.
It proved that she was a pianist.
It turned out that the rumor was true.
It will prove that they know nothing about the accident.

S+seem to be~やS+appear to be~も、It seems(appears) that~で書き換えられます。こちらにも詳しく書かれていますので、参照してみて下さい。
