第２文のthe chocolate then has to be unwrappedのthenについて、thenは基本文末にあるはずですがなぜ文中にあるのでしょうか、and thenが省略したかたちですか？

then はどこにでも置けますが次のようように文の印象が違います。

①　Then the chocolate itself has to be unwrapped from its own piece of paper.　→　文頭に置くのがもっとも普通です。

②　The chocolate itself then has to be unwrapped from its own piece of paper.　→　 文中に置くと多少改まった感じがでます。

③　The chocolate itself has to be unwrapped from its own piece of paper then. →　文末の置くこともよくありますが、これはカジュアルな感じす。

Thenは副詞なのでたとえばAlwaysとか同じように動詞の前とか文の最後とか文頭とかいろいろなところに置けます。
