crash は「衝突」、blossom は「開花」の意味ぐらしかないので crash blossom とだけ聞けば首を傾げます。

ただ下のリンクの説明にあるように、"Violinist linked to JAL crash blossoms" という分かりづらい英語の見出しの例として時に引き合いに出されるもののようです。

Violinist, Linked to JAL Crash, Blossoms.
ヘッドラインのためカンマを省略した結果
Crash Blossoms がつながっているように見え
Crash Blossoms ってなんだ？
というところからきた命名です。

もともと省略が多かったりするため

曖昧だったり、いくつもの解釈が考えられたり、
意味不明だったりする
新聞などの見出し/ヘッドラインのことです。

その語源は日本の英字新聞の
ヘッドラインから来ています。
“Violinist Linked to JAL Crash Blossoms."
日航機の事故で父親を失った
ヴァイオリニストが花開いた、
という意味です。
