"have capped teeth"って?

下記の文章で
"have capped teeth"
とはどういう意味なのでしょうか?
capは「金冠をかぶせる」が辞書には載ってはいたのですが、、、
いまいち意味が通りません。

A recent survey of dental patients showed that people who use Smile-Bright toothpaste are most likely to have capped teeth---artificial but natural-looking protective coverings placed by dentists on individual teeth.
歯科にかかっている患者を対象にした最近の調査によると、「明るい笑顔歯磨き」（敢えて日本語にしてみました！）を使用している人は、一本一本の歯に歯科医に自然に見える人工の保護目的の覆い、いわゆる被せ物をしてもらっている率が大変に高いようである。

Those people who had begun using Smile-Bright toothpaste early in life were more likely to have capped teeth than were people who had begun using Smile-Bright later in life.
若いときから「明るい笑顔歯磨き」を使っていた人は、遅くに使い始めた人より、歯に被せ物をしてもらっている率が高かった。

In addition, those who reported brushing their teeth more than twice a day with Smile-Bright toothpaste were more likely to have caps on their teeth than were those who reported brushing with Smile-Bright less frequently.

capped teeth というのは、昔のような金歯や銀歯ではなく、白い紙粘土みたいな材質で、固まると自然の歯と同じように見える被せ物だと思います。私も最近、歯科医でしてもらいました。虫歯などに被せるばかりでなく、歯を強く磨きすぎたことによる歯茎の後退で、歯の細い根本が現れたりするのも、このやり方で自然な歯に見えますよ。このような被せ物でなくても、最近は white porcelain （白磁）を被せる、あるいはコーティングと言った方がいいかも知れませんが、そういう歯の保護法もあるようですね。

金冠（金属製の歯のかぶせ物）に限らず現在普通につかわれている目立たない歯のかぶせものについて言っているのだと思います。汚れ落としの作用が強い歯磨き粉は歯の表面を削る力も強く、長年頻繁に使用すると却って虫歯になりやすい歯をつくってしまうというような事実が背景にあるのではないでしょうか。

have capped teeth = 冠をかぶせた歯を持つ　= 歯に冠をかぶせる

gold(silver-)-capped tooth = 金(銀)歯

capped teethを持つのはどういう人かというと
people who use Smile-Bright toothpaste

さらにcapped teethの説明として次の文章
artificial but natural-looking protective coverings placed by dentists on individual teeth
protective coverings = 保護のためのかぶせもの
