この文章は、コンピューターで有名なapple社の文です。自力のみでがんばろうと思いましたが、訳・答えが間違っているかもしれないと思い。不安になりご質問させていただきました。

a single huge errorの答え＝１９７０年代にオペレーティングシステムの許可が取れなかったこと。

↑両方とも自信がありません。この文章を理解できていないというか
細かい部分が分かっていないと思います。。。

parties = companies (like Microsoft, Google or Sun)

Apple は他社の行動（技術をコピーしようとする）監視する必要があった。
現在完了が最適です。今もその必要があるということです。

・Apple's products are not only leaders in the market place,but also easier to use.

この leaders は products を指すので「市場をリードする製品」です。
そして、その製品は使いやすい！

a single huge errorの答え＝１９７０年代にオペレーティングシステムの許可が取れなかったこと。ＮＯ！
the decision in the 1970s not to license its operating system (TO OTHER COMPANIES.)
Ｍａｃを他社が使用できないようにライセンスしないと決めた悪名高き決断。
この決断を撤回するチャンスが幾度もあったにもかかわらず、しなかった。（そして、ＯＳ戦争でＭＳに敗れる）

自分の答えを信じなくてよかったです；

単語のとりかたがちがく、上手く訳せない部分が沢山ありました。
あと、最後の問題は
なんとなく分かったような分からないような、漠然としていたので
挽回するチャンスが何回かあったのにもかかわらず・・の部分は訳せていたのに、自信がなく訳せる部分で答えをだしてしまいました。
これからもう１度文章をみながら、復習させていただきます。

単語の訳し方や、文章同士の関係性などを記載して頂いたので
