日本語から英語へ訳して頂きたいです。

アメリカへ住む友人へメールするのですが、何度頑張っても上手く翻訳出来ません。
直訳でなくて結構ですので、良ければお力添えお願いします。

「アメリカから友人達が来てるって前に話したでしょ？
実はそのうちの1人からsteadyになってって言われたの。
私はよく考えて 友人としてしか付き合えないって伝えたかった。
でも、私の英語が下手だから彼には「NO」って事しか伝えられなかった。
それで私は結果的に彼を傷つけてしまった。
何で私は英語が話せないんだろう...って考えてしまう、すごく悔しい。」

という文章です。

I want to e-mail to my American friend, but unfortunately I haven't managed to translate well the text in spite of my multiple attempts. Please help me, if you please. The literal translation may not be necessary.

I'd told you that my American friends came to me?
I dare say that one of them proposed that I be his girlfriend attitré.
I wanted to say to him that I can only be his simple friend.
I hurt him in consequence.
I really regret the poorness of my English.

I told you that my friends are here from the States, didn't I?

Well. one of them asked me to be his "steady". I wanted to tell him I could be just a friend. But my English was not good enough and I said "No."

As a result I hurt his feeling. I sometimes wonder why my English is so poor. I very much regret what happened.

余計なことですが、こういうのアメリカでは日常茶飯事ですよ。いちいち、イエスだけ言ってたんじゃ、無理が来ますよ。人口統計学的に言って、、、、
