英作文の添削をお願いします。

東京の小学生で犬と豚の区別がつかない子がいる、という話を新聞で読んだとある人
から聞いて、いろいろと考えさせられた。この話を多くの人に話すと、みんな「まさか」
という顔をする。

A newspaper said there were some elementary school children in Tokyo who

can't tell dogs from pigs. When I heard this from a person who read it, I couldn't

help considering everything I could image from this. Anyone who heard this

expressed their suprise on his face.

A newspaper said there were some elementary school children in Tokyo who can't tell dogs from pigs. When I heard this from a person who read it, I couldn't help considering everything I could image from this.
** 第１文ですが、"A newspaper said some elementary school children in Tokyo can't tell dogs from pigs."とすると、機能語"there were; who"などの語を少なくして、意味を持つ語句を浮き上がらせることもできます。
** 第２文ですが、"Someone told me this story, which was very thought-provoking."と簡潔にすることもできます。

These magazines provide nothing to provoke thought. 「これらの雑誌は思考を刺激するものは何も与えてくれない。」

しかしこの"thought-provoking"という語を知らないときのことも、この語から何らかの一般性を引き出す必要もあるでしょう。
たとえば他の動詞を使って
", which motivated(/led /caused) me to think many things about it"などです。ここの"many things"は"a lot"と同じで"about many things"ではありません。

** "surprise"と"express"の組み合わせの表現としては以下のようなものがあります。
"He expressed some surprise at finding me in my office."
「 私をオフィスで見つけて少々驚いた表情をした。」
""I hope my face didn't express my surprise."
「 (あのとき)頭に驚きの表情が浮かばなければよかったのだが。 」

しかし、一般的な"put on a [形容詞] face"というものがあります。

これを"put on a [まさか] face"とするわけです。たとえば
"put on a 'You don't say!' face"
"put on too surprised a face"←"too"がきたときの形容詞や冠詞の位置に注意！
"put on a 'Come on!' face"
"put on a 'Don't tell me' face"
と「まさか」という表現を口語表現でもいいですからカッコづけで入れればいいと思います。英語を知っている採点者ならまるをくれますよ。お作りになった表現もいいと思いますし、私の上から２番目の表現あたりでも言いと思います。

thought-provokingですか、はずかしながらはじめて見ました。
しかしこの単語も汎用性がありそうですね。
put on a ~ face　これは面白いですね（笑

　　　　　の訳は文法的に問題がありませんが　on his face　と限定しなくてもいいと思います。

　　　　　On hearing this everyone looked surprised. とも。
　　　　
　　　　　　後はとても自然だと思います。

とても簡潔な訳ですね。
これなら思いつきそうとか思うんですけどつくってる最中はどうしても思いつかないんですよね・・・。
