このままでは『競争するのに必要なもの』です。

　この what it takes to ~ というフレーズは物質的なものより、『素質』とか『度量』など精神的なものを表す場合によく使われます。

What it takes to compete and win in the game is mental discipline. → そのゲームで競争し勝つために必要なのは精神の鍛錬である。

He doesn't have what it takes to be the president. →　彼は大統領になる器（素質）ではない。
