　Yesterday she insisted on her husband cooking lunch. （問題文の yesterday の位置はよくないです。）

　insist that節＝insist on 動名詞

2) The man denied that he had failed in business.

　The man denied having failed in business.

　deny that節＝deny 動名詞

3) As soon as I finish my homework, I will go to see the movie.

　On finishing my homework, I will go to see the movie.

　as soon as S V ＝ on 動名詞（～するとすぐに）

4) It is impossible to tell when he will get better.

　There is no telling when he will get better.

　There is no ～ing （～することはできない）

5) It is of no use to tell him so.

　There is no use telling him so.

　There is no use ～ing （～しても無駄だ）

6) I am proud that my son won the speech contest.

　I am proud of my son having won the speech contest.

　S is proud that 節 ＝ S is proud of 動名詞

　I am sure of your daughter becoming a nurse.

　S is sure that 節 ＝ S is sure of 動名詞（being a nurse とすると、看護師であることになってしまうので、becoming に変えました。）

　S is surprised that節 ＝ S is surprised at ＋名詞（この場合、sight を補うのがベストでしょう）

　The train didn't arrive at the station on time on account of the earthquake taking place.

　He complains of his room being too small.
