現在完了のSince from forの使い方について

弟は10日前から風邪をひいています。という問題の答えに関して。
My brother has been sick for ten daysとありますが、
以下の二つの答えはなぜダメなのか詳しく教えてもらえませんでしょうか？
My brother has been sick from ten days ago.
My brother has been sick since ten days ago.
文法的にも意味としても知りたいです。

  英語には、10日前からという言い方は現在完了と一緒に使えないのでしょうか？ということです。
  10日間風邪をひいてるという言い方ではなく、10日前からというニュアンスは現在完了で出せるのでしょうか？

since は ago を用いることで起点を言っているのですから、論理的には何も問題ありませんし、添付グラフ（Google Books の無料サービス）に見るように書籍にも使用は見られます。

ですが、うちの古い辞書（1986）にも以下のような妙な説明があります。

「ten years ago since と since ten years ago などのように ago と since を併用するのは標準語法では避けられている。したがって、たとえば
It is ten years ago since he died. は
It is [or 《米》has been] ten years since he died. /
It was ten years ago that he died. /
Ten years have passed since he died. /
He has been dead (for) ten years.
などとなる。」（プログレッシブ英和）

It is ten years ago since he died. などとおかしな例文を持ち出して煙に巻こうとしているのかと思いたくなりますけど、憶えている限り避けておけば無難です。
単にダメだと思う人が優勢だということだと思います。つまり、本来避けるべき一種の規範文法だろうかと思います。英文法にはこういうことが散見されます。

From の場合は、検索すると例えば、"Games from long ago" という本がありますけど、起点というより出所を言うように感じられます。
ago なしなら、イギリス人の書いた文法書に、現在完了と共に right from the start のニュアンスで使われると説明があります：
　'From' is sometimes possible with a present perfect, especially in expressions that mean 'right from the start'.
　She's been like that from/since her childhood.
　From/Since the moment they were married, they've quarrelled.
　From/Since the dawn of civilisation, people have made war.
(Practical English Usage, §208.4)

　この表現は文法的に誤りということではなくて、簡潔な表現ではないので避ける方が良いということになるようです。しかし、下記の文章中にある"She has been ill for the past five days."もかなり長ったらしいので一概には言えないという感じはあります:

2. She has been ill since five days ago.

ANSWER #1
No.1 is fine.
No. 2 should be She has been ill for the past five days.

ANSWER #2
I agree with the other respondents that sentence 2 is unusual, but it is not really wrong. It's just longer and more complicated than the other choices.

fromは、現在完了形では使わない。

since は、〜ago という形を取らない。
