Humans are said to have evolved from apes, and machines will probably "evolved from apes, and machines will probably "evolve" from us. At the moment, every gorilla species on earth is in danger because of human actions. Can we expect ■it■ to be any different when the machines are the most advanced beings on the planet? Turing himself thought that when machines began to think by themselves, they would soon overtake us. He was also concerned that at some stage, we would have to imagine that they would take control. How should we prepare for our lives with intelligent machines?

などの代名詞は直近の名詞を指すという原則があります。

文中の■it■からさかのぼって単数形で一番近いものは danger が一つの候補だと思います。あるいは想像できる状況をitで示すことができるので「every gorilla species on earth is in danger」と言う状況を指しているという見方ができるかもしれません。どちらにしても danger という状態を示していると言えるでしょう。

機械が最も進化した存在になり、また知能的機械に進化するときに我々はどう備えるべきかを問うているようですね。
