You may invite whoever wants to come to the party.

whoever のままで良い理由。

Merriam-Websterの例文：
- A prize will be given to whoever solves the riddle.

Oxford Dictionary の例文：
- The next nine deals are started by whoever won the previous deal.
- The showcase award is rated as one of the music industry's most important, and can provide a platform for whoever wins it.’
- Farmers had to sell to whoever would offer a price for their goods.

whoever を whomever に変えるべきだというのが、少なくとも正式な英語ですね。

口語の場合はそれが崩れますけどね。それに関する説明は日本語の文法書を見るのがよいのでしょうけど、今回は英文での文法解説サイトを見てみました。

この上のリンク先に、この下にあるような解説があります。その骨子だけを引用します。

(1) Give the correspondence to her. Give the correspondence to she.

“Give the correspondence to her” sounds best. So if you apply the rule, you can substitute whomever in place of her. They are both object pronouns. (...)

上の (1) を見ると、to she は間違いで to her が正しいです。she は whoever と対応し、her は whomever と対応します。だから to her に対しては to whomever が正しいのです。それを念頭に置いて、次の用例を見てみます。

Report the problem to whoever/whomever you can find at the bureau.

この上の文では、 whoever か whomever か、どちらが正しいか？

Report the problem to he you can find at the bureau?
Report the problem to him you can find at the bureau?

この上の2つのうち、to he は間違いで、to him が正しいです。だからこの下のように to whomever you can find... とするのが正しいのだ、とこのサイトでは説明しています。

Report the problem to him. Report the problem to whomever you can find at the bureau. (...)

同じことが、次の用例でも言えます。
Whoever/whomever double parked, you’re being towed.
He who/Him who double parked, you’re being towed.

Clearly, we should stick to the subject case here—”whoever double parked

この上の用例でも、he who double parked が正しくて、him who double parked は間違いです。だからここでは、Whoever double parked にしないといけないのだ、と説明しています。

英語で書かれた文法解説サイトでは、このように文法用語を使わないでうまく解説しているものが多いので、僕は好きです。日本語による文法書や文法解説文では、やたらに聞き苦しい文法用語（という専門用語）がたくさん並ぶので、嫌いなのです。

whoever ではなく、whomever にしたら、ということでしょうね。

しかし、そのままで良いと思います。
You may invite anyone who wants to come to the party.

You may invite whomever you want. のような場合で、
文節の目的格の場合（want の目的）はwhomeverですが、ご質問の文章では、文節の主格（wants to come) なのでwhoeverでけっこうです。

とくに会話では、whomever は使わないようです。
