This is based on a Kurosawa film. And I always find it interesting. When you talk about adapting a film. I'm wondering, is there something in the original film that both drew you to that? That idea of adapting it? Or was there something maybe you thought that was missing in the original film that you wanted to explore more in this adaptation?

この文脈で「２つのもの」と言ったら、

original film と adaptation を思い浮かべるのが自然ですが、
それでは文章全体の意味が通らないと思います。

文章が正確に引用・再構成されていない可能性を有りにするなら、
drew you to that (original film) と
（drew you to) the idea of adapting it を
both で繋いでいると考えると、
文章全体の意味が通るように思います。

黒澤映画の元となった作品と、それを映画化したものの二つを指しているのではないでしょうか
