英訳のチェックお願いします。

件は、戦友を失った話です。
自分なりに英語に変換しました。
間違ってたり、表現が変だったら教えてください。

「私は、（死んでいった)君をずっと見ていた。
　その悲しみは私に消せない傷を残した。
　いつの日か、戦争は終わりを迎える。
　だから、私は立ち向かい続ける。」

I was looking over till you.
The sadness left a cant sweep scar on me.
Someday,the day will come when the War will finishes(=over=end)
So I go on facing.

僕だったらこう書いたかなということで、ご参考までに。

I watched you take your last breath.
The sad fact has left an unerasable scar in me.
The war will end sooner or later.
Until then I will be fighting on.

、、、一つだけ、冒頭の邦原文「私は、（死んでいった)君をずっと見ていた」の解釈がイマイチ分かりません。これは、「死ぬ瞬間を見届けた」なのか、「死んだ以降、いつも頭に君を描き想っていた」なのでしょうか？ 　続く文から、一応前者の意図で解釈しています。

一番です、ザッとの添削です。

look over –多分「見守る」の意味でお使いかとは思いますが、【句動-1】～にザッと［一通り］目を通す、一読する、～を調べる、検分する、校閲する、通覧する
・She looked over the documents and determined that they were all in order. 彼女は書類にザッと目を通して、それらがすべてきちんとそろっていると判断した。
【句動-2】～を見渡す、～越しに見る
【句動-3】大目に見る
しか該当しません。
a cant sweep scar 多分、「scar I can’t sweep」で書かれていますが、これでは文法からはずれています。

the day will come when the War will finish
the day will come when the War will be over.
the day will come when the War will come to an end.
ならイイです。

So I go on facing.　その意図はよく分かりますが、「face」は他動詞ですからその後に目的語が必要です。 So I am ready to go on and face any difficulty ahead. 「目の前の困難に立ちむかって進んでいこうと決意しています」なら、イイでしょう!

I was always standing very close to you until the day you’re gone with the sorrow, it left me a deep wound I could not mend any time soon. I know the day will sure come when we see the end of the war. The hope encourages myself to stand up firm with any hardship.

多分この様な感情を込めたかったのではないかと、勝手に想像して、話を少し膨らませました。
