itは文中のいろんなパーツの形式主語として機能するので、howやwhetherなどの疑問詞やそれに準ずる働きをするif、thatなどの接続詞、to不定詞、かなり何にでも適用されます。なのでその場その場で柔軟に対応をしてください。
