英語では 「I felt like the scales fell from my eyes」 と言うらしいですが、よく使う表現ですか？

日本語程よく使う表現ではないと思いますが、下のリンクのサイトは全トランプ大統領に関する記事ですが、a scales-falling-from-eyes moment (目から鱗が落ちる時）という表現が出ています。

ご参考までにもっと簡単でわかりやすい an eye opener という言い方があります。

見たことも聞いたこともないです。
今日初めてこちらの質問と回答を見て聖書にその表現があったことを知りました。

上のようにも書いてありますので、ますますこの言葉は英語ネイティブの間で「浦島太郎」や「猿蟹合戦」などの昔話や、あるいは「業が深い」とか「縁起を担ぐ」などというような仏教用語と同じくらいに身近なもののようです。
