「～は好き嫌いが大きく分かれる」の英語の言い方を教えて下さい。　例えば「納豆は好き嫌いが大きく分かれる食べ物だ」は英語でどういいますか？

Wikipedia で natto を調べてみると、次のように書かれている部分があります。

Nattō is often considered an acquired taste because of its powerful smell, strong flavor, and sticky, slimy texture.

No. 5さんのおっしゃる「日本文を逐語訳で英語に移そうという発想は、やめたほうがいい」はその通りだと思います。

日本語にピッタリ一致している言い方・訳し方よりも実際に英語で使われている自然な言い方を選ぶ方がいいです。

acquired taste= a lot of people do not like it when they first experience it, but often start to like it more when they get to know it better.

確かに定義はそうなんですけど、実際には ”What’s he like?” (彼はどんな人なの?) と聞かれた時に “He’s an acquired.” と応えることがあるじゃないですか。

たとえ、「好き嫌いが時間経過があってもかわらないのが前提」があったとしても an acquired taste は使えます。

"Natto? You either love it or hate it." ですね。

"You either love it or hate it"でググると使用例がヒットしますよ。

好き嫌いが大きく分かれる食べ物のうちの１つであるので不定で処理し，「大きく」はここに挙げたような副詞で表せるでしょう。

好き嫌いはlikes and dislikesがピッタリします。

Natto is a food that clearly/widely/greatly/sharply divides people's likes and dislikes.

質問者さんは「大きく」分かれるの訳に興味を持たれたのではないでしょうか。参考まで

今回の例も、「好き嫌い」って英語は何だろう？「分かれる」はどう言おう？とかではなく、
素直に Someone likes natto, and others not. 程度で十分伝わると思います。
穿った表現より、簡潔であることが一番です。

意見や考え、あるいは利害等が分かれると言う表現では、

be separated from, divide into
でも使うことが出来ます。
好きと嫌いは、likes and dislikes

Natto is the food that is quite separated from likes and dislikes.

「好き嫌いが大きく分かれる」のパンチの効いた口語的な言い方は "You either love it or hate it." でしょう。

「納豆は好き嫌いが大きく分かれる食べ物だ」は "Natto is a type of food. You either love it or hate it." です。文語では前後の文が短いので繋いで一つの文にしたほうがいいと思いますが、口語であれば短い文のままのほうがパンチがあります。

なおaquired は「最初無かったものを徐々に身につけた」という意味なので食べ物については強烈な味ではなく繊細な味で食べるにつけ段々とその旨さが分かってくるような食べ物に使うとぴったりします。

という意味なので、もしあなたの御質問文の前提として、「初めて食べた時は」というのが入るのであればこの単語が使えます。

そうではなく、好き嫌いが時間経過があってもかわらないのが前提であればeither~or~を使ってシンプルに
Natto is the food that people either love it or hate it.
でいいかなと思います。
