I got called into work one night because the scheduled closer had gotten into an accident. (No big deal for me, but his car got totalled.) All was going well until one of the “just over the delivery minimum” cash orders came in, which can usually be assumed to be a stiff.

I took the delivery, and sure enough, he was high as a kite (which I could already tell by his order of bread and dip). He handed me a $50; his total was around $18.

Me: “We only carry around $20 in change.”

Customer: “That’s fine.”

I dug through my change. At some point, I had forgotten to refill and was only left with $7.

Me: “I could call the store and we could run a card.”

Customer: “I prefer to keep it cash.”

ある晩クローズシフトに入る筈の人が事故にあったと言うことでシフトに呼ばれた。

（自分は構わなかったけれど、彼の車は大破したらしい）特に問題もなくそのシフトを過ごしていた、デリバリー最低限額をちょっとだけ超えたケチとも言えるオーダーが入り始めるまでは。

そのデリバリーを受けたら思った通り注文者はめちゃめちゃハイになってたね、パンとディップって注文内容で察してたけど

run a card - クレカで決済（カードをカードリーダー？の機械に通すことを run a card through the card reader と言うのでその行為を略して「クレカで決済」みたいなニュアンスで使うこともある）
keep it cash - 現金のままで（もともと現金で支払おうとしていたので他に変えず、現金を維持したい＝カードじゃなくて現金の支払いのままで）

たぶん、ウーバーなどの配達員の話と思います。

he was high as a kite.
は「ドラッグでハイになっていた」の意味です。
kite 文字通りの意味は　カイト＝凧です。

run a card は文脈がないと決定できないので
○○の意味だと決めつけれません。「カードで運用」の意味です。
その文脈では、カードで決済するの意味になります。
でも run 自体に直接決済の意味はありません。

keep it cash　同様、それ自体は「キャッシュに留める」の意味です。
文脈からして、「キャッシュで払うにとどめたい」になります

その文章は全体的に、カジュアルでスラング的な表現が多く
また、単語を直訳しては翻訳できません。
日本人には難しいと思います。
