Assign temperature at vertical line(axis)

assign = 割り当てる

Assign temperature at vertical line(axis)
while time is to be set at horizontal line(axis).


縦軸には温度を取り、横軸には時間を取るものとする。

「この図では高さを縦軸とし、時間を横軸としてプロットされている」(時間-高さプロット)

This figure is plotted with height as the vertical axis and time as the horizontal axis ("time-height plot")

「図において、横軸は角度に対応し、縦軸は温度に対応する」
In the figures the horizontal axis corresponds to the angle and the vertical axis corresponds to the temperature

などの言い方があります。

The temperature is plotted on the ordinate (vertical axis).
後者のようなj表現が多いように思います。

Set temperatures for the y-axis (vertical axis)

通常、Set to は Set 変数 to 値 と言う形を取りますので、set.. for がいいとおもいます。

Temperatures are used for the y-axis.
でもいいです。

Set または Specify でもいいかもしれません。
