「私の友達の一人」と英語で言うのに

a friend of mine ◎といいます。a friend of meは×。

「ボブの友達の一人」は
a friend of Bob's　◎ですが、a friend of Bobは？

さらに「あの男の人の友達の一人」は
a friend of that man's は？　a friend of that man◎

なにか基準はありますか？私の勘違いもありますか？

Bob's friend

that man's friend

ありますよ。こういう時、of　を使わないことです。

ofと'sを両方使ったら変じゃないんでしょうか。

a friend of Bob　か、Bob's friend かどちらかでは。

と思ったんですが、a friend of Bob's / a friend of Bobどちらも使えるようですね。ふ～ん。

これらはＯＫ．

a friend of my dad
a friend of my dad's

どちらもＯＫ．
of my dad'sは二重になってるので理屈としてはおかしいと思うが、英語ネイティブは普通に使う、と。

でも、

but you cannot say "a friend of my mother's cousin's". You have to say "a friend of my mother's cousin". I don't know what the rule is.

"a friend of my mother's cousin's". とは使えなくて、"a friend of my mother's cousin".と言う。ルールは分からないけど。

と書かれています。
