英語の構文について教えてください 【分詞構文のbeingの省略？】

以下の英文について質問があります。

The list of defects linked to chromosome disturbances has grown with surprising speed since the opening of this territory, hitherto beyond the boundaries of medical research.
訳例

染色体障害に関係する欠陥のリストはこの分野の開始以来驚くべき速さで成長しており、すでに医学研究の域を越えている。

ここで、hitherto以降の箇所について、分からない点があります。

の部分は、訳例を見る限り、分詞構文ですか？

つまりは

The list of defects linked to chromosome disturbances has grown with surprising speed since the opening of this territory, being hitherto beyond the boundaries of medical research.
という感じで正しいのでしょうか？確信が持てなく、自分自身で訳を導き出すことができない状況です。よろしくお願いいたします

”beyond”は”the boundaries . . .”を目的語とする前置詞で、前の"territory"を修飾しています。

なので"this territory / beyond the boundaries of medical research"「医学研究の境界を越えた領域」です。
"hitherto"(ここまで、今まで)は副詞で”beyond the boundaries of medical research”という前置詞句を修飾しています。すなわち"this territory / hitherto / beyond the boundaries of medical research"「今までは医学研究の境界を越えていた領域」となります。
というわけで”being”が隠れているわけではありません。

しかし本当の問題は訳例が英文の意味と大きくズレているだけでなく、日本語としても非常に疑わしいことです。「欠陥のリストは . . . 成長しており. . . 医学研究の域を越えている」というのはいろいろとマズいです。

以下は決してベストの訳とは言えませんが、私なりの訳です。
「これまで医学研究の域の範囲外にあったこの領域が開拓されて以来、染色体障害と関係づけられた欠陥のリストは驚くべき速さで膨れ上がっている」
